About This Trip
This nine-day tour will take you to some of the best Sri Lanka has to offer, including colonial cities, ancient fortresses, Buddhist temples, and national park. Your tour will begin in Negombo. With a lively fish market and a seaside location, this town is ideal to see Sri Lanka's coastal life. Then explore the cultural Dambulla Cave Temple, Sigiriya Lion Rock and Mahiyanganaya Ancient Temple, before passing the scenic Ella to Uda Walawe for a jeep safari in search of animals like wild elephants. Enjoy some relaxing time in the antient port city of Galle before departing from Colombo.

Day 1: International Arrival, Negombo
Upon your arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport, you will be welcomed by your chauffeur-guide and transferred to your hotel in Negombo. The rest of the day is yours to relax.

Day 2: Negombo - Sigiriya (By car, approx. 5 hrs)
After breakfast, head for Sigiriya, you will visit a local Sri Lankan family for coconut break en route. Once in Dambulla visit famous Dambulla Cave Temple, home to many magnificent Buddha images and rock painting dating back to the 2nd century BC. You may opt to share a day with the majestic beast by picnicking in the bush in the shadow of the elephant or by swimming, grooming, feeding the elephant too.

Day 3: Sigiriya, Lion's Rock
Your tour today is climbing up to the top of Sigiriya Rock Fortress (the Lion's Rock) with sweeping views. Rest of the day relaxes by the hotel pool.

Day 4: Sigiriya - Mahiyanganaya (By car, approx. 3.5 hrs)
After breakfast, you will proceed to Mahiyanganaya. The Dabana Village is where the indigenous people of Sri Lanka named as Veddas living in nowadays. It is a great chance to meet those Wanniyala-Aetto (chief) or "forest people". They will not hesitate to depict the pros & cons of hunting and enact how they set about. In the afternoon, pay a visit to a museum of Veddas in Dambana and the Mahiyanganaya Ancient Temple, which was said the first stupa in Sri Lanka.

Day 5: Mahiyanganaya - Ella (By car, approx. 2.5 hrs)
From Mahiyanganaya ascend to the hill of Ella. Once in Ella make photo stop at Cascading Rawana Water Falls, thereafter visit mini Adams peak, a beautiful tourism site in Sri Lanka. After the tour, drive back to your hotel to relax.

Day 6: Ella - Udawalawe (By car, approx. 2.5 hrs)
Head for Udawalwe in the morning, en route enjoy the beautiful scenery of Ella. Upon arrival at Udawalawe, enjoy the jeep safari at Udawalawe National Park (around 3 hrs) this afternoon. In addition to sighting the large herds of wild elephants, there are spotted deer, Monitor lizards, Sambar deer, Wild boar, Common Langurs, Jackals, Toddy cats and the endemic Toque Macaque. The Sri Lankan Leopard has also been sighted here, but unlike in the Yala National Park these sightings are very rare.

Day 7: Udawalawe - Thanamalwila - Udawalawe (By car, approx. 2 hrs)
This morning, we will drive to Thanamlwila Village (about 45 min), where one can observe authentic village life including fishing, wood carving and chena cultivation (the oldest farming system in Sri Lanka). You will walk through the paddy fields, the village homes, and climb up to the top of ancient temples for a panoramic view of the village. Have a simple lunch at a local village home and make a conversation with the householder. Enjoy a short distance cycling (use villagers) or take a Tuk-Tuk to Village tank & experience a catamaran ride on the lake this afternoon.

Day 8: Udawalawe - Galle (By car, approx. 3 hrs)
After breakfast, proceed to Galle, a colonial port fortified by Portuguese first then Dutch. Afternoon spend your time at the Dutch Fort, regarded as one of the best preserved fortress in Sri Lanka. Later in evening, taking in the sunset from the rampart will make today unforgettable in your Sri Lanka tour.

Day 9: Galle - Colombo, Departure (By car, approx. 3.5 hrs)
Today you will head for Colombo, on the way stop to indulge in a River Safari in Madhu River at Balapitiya (about 2.5 hrs).
On your arrival in Colombo, you will do a city tour to the Independence Square, Gangarama Temple of Colombo, Galle Face Green Urban Park, Colombo's National Museum and the former British Administrative Center. In the late afternoon, you will be escorted to the airport for your onward flight.
