About This Trip
This seven-day trip begins and ends in bustling Colombo, with stops in a few other well-known Sri Lankan destinations along the way. The Sigiriya Lion Rock, the Dambulla Cave Temples, and the holy city of Kandy are among the highlights of your visit; they are all recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. You will also go to Pinnawala, where you may have fun with cute elephants and watch them take a river bath.

Day 1: Arrival, Colombo
Welcome to Sri Lanka, the Pearl of the Indian Ocean! On arrival at Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport, you're met by your private chauffeur-guide and driven to your hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure to recover from your long journey.

Day 2: Colombo City Sightseeing
Enjoy a leisurely morning. Afterward, take a guided city tour to explore Colombo's colonial legacies, including Independence Square, Gangaramaya Temple of Colombo, the mile-long promenade of Galle Face Green and Colombo's National Museum, etc. Stop for taking pictures when drive by the former British Administrative Center.

Day 3: Colombo - Pinnawala - Sigiriya
Be prepared to Pinnawala (approx. 2.5 hours) where you can visit the Elephant Orphanage and have a good time with these lovely guys. After lunch, head to Sigiriya (about 3 hours' drive), home to the Lion Rock Fortress, and an ideal base for exploring the many natural wonders and historical sites in this charming area. On the way, you have the opportunity to visit a local Sri Lankan family for a coconut break.- B

Day 4: Sigiriya Highlights
In the morning, start your Sigiriya trip with a visit to the 5th-century legendary sky citadel of "Lion Rock", - the Landmark of this country; although a steep climb is requested, the story behind the monument and the panorama of Dambulla seen on the top are definitely worth the effort.
In the afternoon, continue your exploration in the rural village of Hiriwadunna. Travel into the lush Sri Lankan countryside by a jeep or tuk-tuk. Hop into a bullock cart alongside paddy fields and rural vegetable plantations. At dusk, take a boat ride and sail to the other side of a lake, enjoying the fantastic sunset view, and looking out for birds, butterflies, as well as the villagers fishing or washing clothes at the periphery of the lake.

Day 5: Sigiriya - Kandy
Today, begin today with the famous Dambulla Cave Temple, home to many magnificent Buddha images and rock painting dating back to 2nd century BC. Then head for Ceylon's old capital of Kandy, en route stop for an interesting visit to learn a wide range of spices at one of spice garden, whose 15-minute complimentary Ayurveda Massage is recommended.
After arriving in Kandy (approx. 3.5 hrs by road), appreciate a vivid and traditional cultural dance (Kandyan Dance) before walking to the nearby Sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic - Sri Lanka's most sacred Buddhist shrine, the Puja Ritual held in the temple with all the fanfare, drums, trumpets and brightly colored Monks definitely shows you how special and spiritually important the temple means to Sri Lanka.

Day 6: Kandy Discovery
Get ready for a visit to the Ceylon Tea Museum and learn more about Sri Lanka's tea history and how Ceylon tea is made. You can admire the beauty of the tea garden as you walk along the trail. An optional cycling tour will be an inspiration if you want more fun. Follow a cycling guide to take in the green charm at Hanthana Tea Estate, and have a chance to watch the tea picking work.
In the afternoon, continue to the Royal Botanical Garden - Peradeniya, which has more than 300 orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palm trees. If you are interested in, your driver will be pleased to take you to Kandy Lake in the city center, and then head to Kandy View Point for a panorama of the whole city.

Day 7: Kandy - Colombo, Departure
Spend a leisurely morning. In the afternoon, be driven to Colombo city by private vehicle (approx. 3.5 hours) for your onward flight. Say goodbye to Sri Lanka!
