Nepal Through the Lens

Pure, sacred and colorful, Nepal is just like the nymph in your heart - fall in love at first sight, and never fall out of love. Follow our lens to catch a glimpse of its beauty.

Kathmandu Morning

When the first rays of the morning sun dance over the Himalayas peaks, the city of Kathmandu begins to rub its eyes and slowly comes to life. A mix of smells fills the air: bricks, milk teas, curries, flowers, fruits, animals... It's a smell of life, intoxicating in the morning breeze.

Walk through the streets and alleys and watch the faces of people, teenagers on the way to school, women in brightly colored saris, hawkers peddling vegetables, and elders making puja (ritual offering), alive yet still. Nepal is dynamic. Its beauty varies with the changing of sunlight. While in the morning it exudes a unique charm.

Roam around Durbar Square: the ringing of bells from temples, muzzy dogs at the street corner, pawky monkeys climbing the doors, exquisite statues, blooming flowers. it would be futile to describe the feeling. It's a sight to behold.

Bhaktapur

When the ancient town of Bhaktapur is bathed in sunglow, it's cool, and charming. Getting close to it one can easily find the traces of time: old temples, mottled walls, ancient wells, time-worn ceramics, chanting old man. This time-marked city is simply stunning. It was made for photographing, every corner, every expression, and even a roof is an appealing painting, with the smell of sandalwood and the vigor of life, offering infinite opportunities to crack the shutter.

Snow-capped Mountains Unveiled

From the plane you think they are clouds in the distance, and then it hits you - these are snow peaks jutting hundreds of feet above clouds! Nepal is the courtyard of snowy mountains. There are only 14 peaks in the world over 8,000 meters (26,246 feet) and 9 of them, including Mount Everest, gather in Nepal and bless local people. The beauty is too extreme to be conveyed by any words that you might choose. And no photography could slightly do it justice.

The snow peaks are like shy girls. Only the pious could catch a glimpse of them at sunrise or twilight. They unveil themselves, gaze down upon humans silently and then disappear into a curtain of clouds. When gazing up the peaks, even the hands holding the camera would tremble lest it should disturb the whisper of the divinities.

Laid-back Pokhara

All things slow down the pace in Pokhara. The Phewa Lake is under the gaze of snow peaks with delightful scenery, homelike guesthouses, boutique shops, thrilling paragliding and parachuting, and beautiful trekking trails, time just lapses unwittingly.

Pure blue, sacred white and brilliant colors compose a vivid Nepal, whose beauty cannot be all captured by a lens but by a mind that's wide enough to hold a world. Pack up, don't hesitate, bring your lens and mind of peace to capture its charm, and embark on a sunny and surprising journey. Years later when you open the album, it will still amaze you. That's perhaps, the magic of travel.
