Kerala Awarded 'the Best Family Destination' in India

Kerala has been announced as 'the Best Family Destination in India' at Lonely Planet Magazine India Travel Awards 2016. The awards are announced annually and voted by readers according to the nominations from travel experts.

Situated in southwestern India and known as God's Own Country, Kerala is one of the most visited destinations in the country and is described as a place that's easy and convenient to travel to. This state offers a unique opportunity to experience backwaters, where tourists can stay on the houseboat and observe local life. In addition, with many beautiful temples, lakes, beaches, wildlife national parks, as well as Ayurvedic treatments, Kerala is indeed a veritable paradise fit for each member of the family.

Besides being voted as the best family-friendly place to visit for a holiday, Kerala was also nominated in the best destination for 'culture' and 'to relax' categories. Earlier this year, Kerala won the Ulysses Prize of the UNWTO for its contribution as a global leader to sustainable tourism; and together with Thailand, Italy, and other destinations, it was named the Best Family Travel Destinations for 2014 by Lonely Planet.
