India Reduces Free Baggage Allowance from 20 to 15 kgs

According to a new policy of the India Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the free baggage allowance for all domestic flights would be lowered from 20 to 15 kgs from Sep.9, 2013. Meanwhile, the free hand luggage allowance is reduced to 6 -7 kgs. A flat rate of about 4 dollars will be charged per kilo on excess baggage.

The policy allows the airlines of India to charge fees for check-in baggage, preferential seats, meals, snacks, sports and other unbundled services on domestic flights.
