Air India Increases Domestic Free Checked Baggage Allowance to 25 Kg

Air India has announced to increase in free checked baggage allowance to 25 kg from the previous 15 kg for passengers in economic class domestic flights. The offer is applicable for bookings and traveling between August 12, 2015, and February 7, 2016. Additionally, infants get a free baggage allowance of 10 kg.

Passengers traveling on Air India domestic sectors and connecting to Air India International sectors or vice versa enjoy the same baggage allowance, as do passengers traveling on Alliance Air flights and connecting to Air India or vice versa. However, this offer will not be available for passengers traveling exclusively on Alliance Air flights.

For domestic sectors within India, excess checked baggage is charged at a rate of 250 Rupees (about USD 3.8) per extra kg and is expected to be paid directly at the airport check-in counter. Allowance for hand baggage in the cabin is one piece of luggage not exceeding the dimensions of 55 cm (22 inches) x 40 cm (16 inches) x 20 cm (8 inches) and a total weight of 8 kg.
