Where to Stay in Jaipur: from Standard to Deluxe Properties

Jaipur is on the classic Golden Triangle Sightseeing Route of India, meaning you'll spend at least one or two nights there once you're in India. If you're searching for some impressive places to stay in Jaipur, look no further than the properties below, most of which I've personally stayed or investigated and have received good feedback from my customers. And I'll explain why I opt to recommend them.

Standard Hotels (Equivalent to 3 Star)

1. Peppermint Hotel

6, Subhash Nagar, Jaipur 302016, India

One of the most popular budget hotels in Jaipur and it's easy to see why. It's a little bit away from the city center (around 7-8 km) but you can find some quietness. The rooms are clean and modern. The restaurant looks clean and neat and I found the food is quite fresh and delicious. There is a rooftop swimming pool and a gym, both are small but functional. There is added bonus of free Wi-Fi for guests. What else can you expect from a 3-star hotel?

All rooms from around US$34 per night (based on low season, the rate goes up in the high season, as is the case in most Indian hotels, including the hotels below)

Recommended reason: great price; courteous staff; 60 chic and clean rooms; free WiFi

2. Mandawa Haveli Jaipur

Sansar Chandra Road, Jaipur 302 001, India

If you're looking for a place that has great Indian charm, a central location, and a reasonable price, I would recommend the Mandawa Haveli. Buildings with a history of over 100 years, featuring numerous pillars and arches, set in beautiful gardens, lawns and terraces with a view of the splendid Nahargarh Fort- really an oasis from the chaos of Jaipur. Rooms come in different sizes and are traditionally decorated, with carved wooden beds and historic photographs. Staffs are friendly.

All rooms from around US$35 per night

Recommended reason: heritage hotel with a characterful feel and beautiful surroundings; excellent location in the heart of Jaipur; 70 well-appointed rooms with intricately carved wooden beds and historic photographs

Nehru Sahkar Bhawan, C - Scheme, Bais Godam Circle, Jaipur 302001, India

This is a standard 4-star hotel in Jaipur, great for a comfortable stay. It's centrally located with clean and spacious rooms. Restaurants offer an extensive range of food for breakfast and dinner. Staffs here are attentive and prompt. A special mention goes to a mall attached to the hotel that makes for easy shopping.

2. Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Jaipur

Khasa Kothi Circle, M.I.Road, Jaipur 302001, India

Another popular 4-star hotel in Jaipur, the Country Inn and Suites by Carlson is a great value for money. It has a very convenient location – just minutes away from some of India's most magnificent sights in the country, including Amber Fort, Hawa Mahal and the gorgeous City Palace. The rooms are nicely decorated. There is a lovely swimming pool on the rooftop. The restaurant is spacious and comfortable with a well-planned sitting layout and good food quality. Do check out the mouthwatering desserts.

All rooms from around US$66.30 per night

Recommended reason: convenient location that's close to the railway station; ultramodern rooms; an impressive spa and health club; an excellent 24-hour restaurant

Superior Hotel (Equivalent to 4.5 Star)

1. Trident Jaipur

Amber Fort Road, opposite Jal Mahal, Jaipur 302002, India

I especially love the hotel for its breathtaking views of Mansagar Lake! It's away from the downtown but on the way to the famous Amber Fort. There are 132 gracefully furnished and well-quipped rooms. If you're with kids, take them to the kid zone which has video games and activities galore to keep kids entertained. Tips: try to rise up early to watch the sunrise over the lakes and mountains.

All rooms from around US$74 per night

Recommended reason: 2013 winner of Certificate of Excellence by TripAdvisor; 132 graceful rooms with beautiful views of Jal Mahal and the lake

First Class Hotels (Equivalent to 5 Star)

1. Le Meridien Hotel

Number 1, RIICO, Kookas 303101, India

This 5-star property is magnificent and beautiful. Rooms are clean and beautifully decorated in a blend of traditional Indian style and modern style, each with a balcony. And the best thing is the bathrooms, very spacious. The spa here is fabulous with the use of a sauna, steam room, and Jacuzzi after your treatment.

All rooms from around US$75 per night

Recommended reason: 102 rooms designed in a blend of traditional Indian style and modern style; 3 restaurants serving Indian specialties and international cuisine; 3 bars to enjoy cocktails and snacks; great spa service

2. ITC Rajputana, Jaipur

Palace Road, Jaipur 302006, India

With a red brick exterior rising to the sky in different levels, the hotel is beautiful and well-restored. Long corridors, secluded courtyards and simplified lattice work bring alive the spirit of Rajasthan. I love the variety of the buffet breakfast along with its attentive staff. Tips: choose a room facing the pool area for calmness.

All rooms from around US$98 per night

Recommended reason: central location and close to Ram Niwas Gardens, Central Museum, and Heaven-Piercing Minaret; beautiful surrounding and interior; 218 guest rooms and suites equipped with modern amenities; outside pool and full service spa

Deluxe Hotel (Equivalent to 5 Plus Star)

1. The Oberoi Rajvilas

Goner Road, Jaipur 303012, India

Probably the most luxurious hotel in Jaipur, the property attracts numerous travelers to stay here. Its allure first comes from the traditional Rajasthani fort style buildings that spread over 32 acres of lush gardens with flowering trees and cascading fountains. Beautiful gold leaf hand-painted murals and colorful Indian paintings can be found throughout the entire property. In the rooms the plush furnishings and amenities are all present and correct. And I really enjoyed the jasmine scent in the evening air.

All rooms from around US$425 per night

Recommended reason: traditional Rajasthani fort-style buildings; 70 beautiful rooms including 13 luxury tents, 1 royal tent, 3 luxury villas with private pools; the Oberoi Spa combining Ayurvedic and Western therapies
